Major Jackson Porter looked out the window at the USS Xantara, his
new assignment. He was to be the Wing CO for the new experimental
ship. Jackson walked down the narrow corridor that extended from the
station to the Xantara. As he walked up to the doorway into the
ship, the computer's voice chirped in.
"For security reasons, please enter voice pattern for security
recognition."
Jackson pushed the button on the console to the left. "Major Jackson
Porter, Federation Marine Corps," he said. The computer beeped again.
"Voice pattern accepted." The door opened. As he walked in, a voice
came over the comm.
"Colonel Thuraya to all hands. I would like to welcome you all to the
USS Xantara. I will be holding a welcome aboard party tonight at
1900 hour in the ten forward. I extend this invitation to all
crewmembers from private on up. No working tonight ladies and
gentelman. Oh, and the drinks are on me. Thuraya out." The message
ended. Jackson walked down the corridor to the turbolift, deciding
to check in with the CO.
"Bridge," he said. The turbolift began to rise upwards. Jackson
straightened out his uniform as the turbolift stopped. The doors
opened to the bridge. A man sitting in a chair near the middle
turned around to see him. Jackson walked out of the turbolift and
into the room a bit.

"I'm Major Jackson Porter, you're Wing CO, sir," he responded.
